HCC Ranch

Cripple Creek, Colorado

Project Summary

The 240-acre HCC Ranch required the decommissioning of a 100’ high earthen dam embankment. This lake was 6 surface acres and approximately 40’ deep. Western Lands developed a construction plan as well as the reclamation plans for the lake bottom. After extensive earthwork to remove the dam, a small channel with wetland habitat was developed in the former lake bottom to create a healthy meadow environment with native grasses, trees and shrubs.

We worked closely with the ranch owner, Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, and the Colorado Division of Water Resources.
