Andersen Ranch
Cripple Creek, Colorado
Project Summary
The 64 acre Andersen Ranch, similar to the HCC Ranch, required the decommissioning of existing earthen dams that were constructed in the 1960s. Western Lands managed the planning, design, permitting, and construction management.
The first dam was approximately 80’ in height and held a 10-acre lake. This lake bottom was reseeded and planted with native high elevation plant species and is now a healthy, diverse meadow with wetland habitat. The second dam was approximately 20’ in height with a 4-acre lake. This dam was modified and re-permitted to keep the lake in place with a water control system.
